Hello to you all - Week 1 Term 3. from the stories the children have written and the news they have shared they have all had a great holiday. The snow was a high point for everyone.

This week we have had a lot of fun exploring weights and volume in maths - trying to find similar weighted objects to hang on bungee cords and making paper cones to hold the right amount of pop corn for the three bears when they go to the movies.

Andrea has joined us as teacher aide each day for 2 hours. This is great. The children love having another adult to talk to and Andrea is doing a great job helping out with lots of jobs.

Golden time this week was Teddy Bears, next week is wheels.

Term 2

Wow term 2 has flown by and finally I find my way to update our blog.

The children of Room 10 have worked really hard this term with lots of great progress in reading, math and writing. We have also completed cross country, with Jayden coming first for the Year 1 boys. Well done to him!

We have been learning new games and how to follow the rules and boundaries for them. We are currently learning dances and jump jam routines.

We have completed lots of great art, especially some mixed media fish, which look fantastic.

Gaylene

Gaylene is now in Room 10

Well, hasn't term 1 flown by!!!!

I am pleased with the progress that all the children have made in their 1st 10 weeks at school, they have all Dared to Dream and demonstrated the PRIDE values every day. I am very happy to be handing Room 10 over to Gaylene Dale from Week 11.

The transition week with Gaylene and I both in Room 10 went very well and the children are now ready to go with their fantastic teacher! I am looking forward to visiting Room 10 and catching up with everyone soon.

Who's Showing Pride this week?

It's William! He's been trying so hard to sit peacefully on the carpet during learning time and is using his inside voice much more often - Keep up the great work!

Celebration Time Success

Well, I was holding my breathe this morning when other classes began to file into the hall. Would our IT celebration time run according to plan?

I can report with a huge smile that it indeed did run to plan with not an IT glitch to be seen. I love it when a plan comes together!

My next step is to upload our whole celebration time to our blog as a movie. I'm intending on getting up here over the weekend. I'm certainly Daring to Dream with my IT skills of late!

PRIDE person of the week

This week, I've chosen Kodi to receive the PRIDE certificate as I know that I can always count on him to be sitting peacefully on the carpet during learning time. Great job Kodi; taking responsibilities for your own learning and making sure you're doing the right thing.

Successful Swimming

After an initial assessment week in the pool, we are now well into our teaching of basic water skills.

I'm pleased to say everyone is Daring to Dream and pushing themselves in their quest to be the next Mark Spitz! We have been working on getting into the pool, 'spidermanning' round the side of the pool, putting our heads under the water and finally practising correct leg and arm movements for front crawl. We swim everyday at 1:30 weather permitting, parents are welcome to come and observe - we promise not to splash you too much!

Who's been showing PRIDE?

To be honest it was a tricky decision this week as to who should receive the PRIDE certificate, but as she has been Daring to Dream at Jump Jam time and becoming so much more Independent starting her school day, I just had to choose Charlotte. Keep up the great work Charlotte, you are a superstar!!!
